Opening a new investment account shouldn't require advisors to know which accounts can be opened digitally, which require paperwork, or which process to follow.

They should be able to enter client information once and let the technology handle the rest.

That's the experience we're building toward with Feathery. And with our latest expansion to our Schwab integration, more account types can now move through that experience digitally.

For wealth firms, that means more account openings can follow a streamlined process without advisors or operations teams having to navigate different workflows behind the scenes.

More account types can now be opened through the Schwab API

Feathery now supports API-based account opening for a broader range of Schwab account registrations, including:

  • Individual brokerage accounts
  • Traditional and Rollover IRAs
  • Joint accounts
  • Roth IRAs
  • Irrevocable and Revocable living trusts
  • Inherited IRAs for individuals
  • Custodial brokerage
  • TOD brokerage

This expanded support means more of the accounts firms open every day can move through an API-driven process rather than relying on custodial paperwork and manual processing.

But supporting more account types is only part of the story.

One workflow, even when the account opening path changes

Not every account follows the same path.

Some accounts can be opened directly through the Schwab API. Others may still require custodial forms, signatures, or additional documentation. But advisors and clients shouldn't have to navigate that complexity themselves.

With Feathery, client and account information can be collected once and used throughout the process. Whenever possible, account opening can be routed through the Schwab API rather than relying on paper-based processes.

The path behind the scenes may change depending on the account, but Feathery helps firms manage those different processes within a streamlined account opening workflow.

Beyond account opening: Support ongoing account servicing

Opening the account is only the beginning of the relationship.

Feathery's Schwab integration extends beyond account opening to support workflows across ongoing account servicing and management. Firms can use Schwab APIs to initiate service requests and address changes, retrieve account and client information, access balances, positions, transactions and reports, and surface account alerts, including NIGOs.

These capabilities can be incorporated into broader Feathery workflows alongside the other systems wealth firms already use, helping firms automate not just how accounts get opened, but what happens before and after.

So while our expanded Schwab integration helps more accounts take a digital opening path, the broader opportunity is to connect account opening and servicing into end-to-end workflows rather than treating each interaction as a separate process.

Make account opening simpler. Let Feathery handle the complexity.

The goal of deeper custodian integrations isn't to give advisors another API to think about. It's to give them fewer things to think about.

By expanding the account types supported through our Schwab integration, more account opening scenarios can move through a streamlined digital process while Feathery manages the complexity behind them.

For advisors and clients, the experience can remain simple: enter the information once and move forward.

For wealth firms, it means more automation, less manual processing, and a consistent account opening experience across more of their business.
